Co-Lactase drops 10 mL

Lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose, the main carbohydrate in milk (especially breast milk). How can undigested lactose affect a baby? Babies' immature digestive systems may have difficulty converting milk lactose into carbohydrates when it is digested. Your doctor can tell you more about this condition and how your baby is affected. Lactose is a complex carbohydrate, a disaccharide, found in breast milk, formula milk, and dairy products. Before it can be absorbed, lactose must be broken down into glucose and galactose to ensure normal digestion. In the case of insufficient lactase production due to enterocyte immaturity, a transient lactase deficiency and lactose intolerance occur in the first few days of life with the production of gases (H2, CO2, CH4), short-chain fatty acids, and lactic acid. This process causes cramps, irritation of the colon, and increased motility, resulting in a reduced quality of life.
