Tea Pelin Atremisia absinthium

 

Latin name and family: Atremisia absinthium L. (Asteraceae)
Description: Aromatic semi-bush, white-hairy stems that are panicle-like garnet. The lower leaves are on short petioles, divided into three pinnae and densely covered with hairs. The leaves below the head are linear and hairy. The heads are small and spherical, yellow in color, hanging and gathered in a panicle. It grows in dry areas of almost all of Europe and Asia. It grows by the roadside, on sandy and rocky places and in gardens.
The medicinal part of the plant is used: Dried aerial part of the plant (Absinthii herba)
Chemical composition: Herba pelena contains sesquiterpene lactones, up to 1.2% of essential oil (which contains 3-10% thujone, 25-75% thujyl alcohol), flavonoids, phenyl-carboxylic acids, polyacetylenes.
Use: As an aromatic bitter agent to improve digestion, it stimulates and facilitates the secretion of bile and the elimination of gases
