Hair care in summer

For many, hair that looks fresh and healthy symbolizes good health. Unfortunately, UV rays, salt and chlorine water contribute to the hair appearing dull and lifeless. Fortunately, there is good help for caring for summer-damaged hair.

Why can hair be damaged by summer?

Healthy hair has a layer of fat on the outside of each hair strand, similar to the scales on a pine cone. The surface of the hairs is then completely smooth, and light is reflected from them. To us, this is perceived as shiny hair. When these scales are open, for example due to excessive UV exposure or chlorinated water, the hair will feel dull and lifeless. The reason for this is because the hair strands do not reflect the light rays.

Get the shine back

Hair can regain its shine by using the right hair products for your hair. If you have summer-damaged hair, it is extra important to use products that close the cuticles on the hair strands. This is done with a good conditioner that is applied from about the middle of the hair strands to the tips. There is no need for conditioner on the scalp. If you have hair that is extra dry and worn after the summer, you can replace the conditioner with a hair treatment for a period of time.
