Menopause is a natural physiological phenomenon in women that begins with the last menstruation, around the age of 50. A transitional period leading to it is called perimenopause and can occur ten years earlier, with a gradual decline in reproductive ability and reduced ovarian function, which is manifested by an occasional absence of menstruation and reduced menstruation coupled with accompanying symptoms, which can to a greater or lesser extent disrupt a woman’s quality of life.
