Skin diseases and rashes
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes a rash that is usually distributed in spots on the body. It is assumed that 2-3% of the population has psoriasis. The cause of psoriasis is not known, but heredity is important. In addition to medical treatment, there are measures you can take yourself to make the rash go away and help keep the disease at bay.
Chickenpox disease
Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection characterized by fever, itching and fluid-filled blisters. The disease is spread by droplet infection, and children under 10 are normally affected. Adults who have not had the disease in their childhood can also be affected, but this is less common and they often become very ill.
Measles
Measles (morbilli) is the most contagious of all childhood diseases. Measles often starts with fever, cough and runny nose and eyes. The fever then subsides for a period, before it rises again at the same time as the typical measles rash appears. Measles is very easily transmitted via droplet transmission and through contact with secretions (excretion product) from the respiratory tract.
Rubella
Rubella is a childhood disease caused by infection with the rubella virus. In the vast majority, it goes away on its own without any after-effects. The disease causes, among other things, a rash with pink and reddish-brown spots on the face and body. Vaccine against rubella (MMR vaccine) is part of the childhood vaccination programme
Keratosis pilaris
Keratosis pilaris is a very common skin condition characterized by bumpy skin. This can be seen on the upper arms, thighs, back, buttocks and face. The condition can occur in anyone, regardless of ethnicity, and starts already in childhood and adolescence. With the help of good and regular measures, you can prevent and treat the condition yourself.
Eczema
Eczema is a general term for skin diseases where the skin is inflamed due to, for example, allergies, irritants or other factors. Eczema is characterized by redness, itching, dandruff, small blisters and dry skin. There are many possible causes of eczema, and the cause can vary among the types of eczema.
Lichen sclerosus
Lichen sclerosus is a common but little-known skin disorder. The condition is characterized by itching, inflammation and whitish changes in the skin. This most often affects the skin in the abdomen. The skin disorder can occur at any age, but is more common in women than men. The disease is also called "lichen sclerosus et atrophicus" and "balanitis xerotica obliterans".
